The vessel will be specifically designed for North Pacific fishing and is based on a previous Marco Marine design.<\/p>\n
Keith Whittemore, Vigor\u2019s executive vice president of business development, explained: \u201cA new class of longliners is a central need for the recapitalisation of the North Pacific fishing fleet, but to get these vessels built fishermen need to know they can depend on the design \u2013 and it better be affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n
This is the reason that the company began its design process by acquiring the exclusive license of a Marco design that has successfully fished the North Pacific for more than two decades.<\/p>\n
Vigor then collaborated with current longliner operators, with the support of Glosten Associates \u2013 the design was then elevated to take advantage of advances in technology, efficiency and safety.<\/p>\n
Mr Whittemore, added: \u201cWe didn\u2019t set out to design a Lamborghini. Operators wanted a reliable work-horse. This design is more like a Ford F-150 pick-up truck. We think it\u2019s the right design for the North Pacific Longliner fleet\u201d<\/p>\n
The vessel will have a fish hold capacity of 14,070 cu ft and a bait hold capacity of 1,900 cu ft, the vessel will be 142\u201d by 33.6\u201d by 14\u201d.<\/p>\n
Vigor will complete and vet the production engineering of the vessel prior to starting production and in order to try and create an efficient production line for fabrication.<\/p>\n
