High quality ropes for the fishing industry
Wire and fibre rope manufacturer, Bridon, has agreed a number of major new vessel supply deals in Asia and the North Atlantic totalling more than £3m over the last 18-24 months.
Rope manufacturer Bridon has invested £5m in the recently-launched Bridon Technology Centre (BTC), built for the development of fishing ropes.
Industry leaders from companies including Heerema, NOV, and Certex assembled in Northern England at the end of November to watch UK business minister Michael Fallon open a facility that will manufacture the world’s largest ropes.
Trawling specialist Vónin Ltd has equipped the Finnur Fridi (see World Fishing, February), with toughened purse seining and pelagic trawling gear. Called the "Blue Whiting trawl", it has a circumference of 2,048 metres, 32-metre meshes in the forenet and is made of braided "Super 12" material in different colours. This gives a higher braking strength than the old material.
Bridon Ropes, the leading wire manufacturer has developed yet another rope that has proven to be a winner after a trial period of 16 months .
