Nauta to build trawlers for Karstensns Skibsvaerft

Torland Torland is a modern pelagic trawler

Poland-based Nauta Shiprepair Yard has signed contracts with Danish shipyard Karstensns Skibsvaerft to build partly outfitted fishing trawlers.

At 49.95m long and 13.2m wide, Torland (B-447) and Tor-Ön (B-448) will be modern pelagic trawlers, built for Sweden-based Torönland Fiskeri to target Baltic Sea sprat and North Sea sandeel, sprat, herring and mackerel.

Nauta has been working with Karstensens Skibsvaerft since the opening of its newbuild division in Gdańsk, in September 2013.

So far, Karstensens Skibsvaerft has ordered 19 vessels, 13 of which have already been launched. Nauta confirmed discussion is ongoing for further contracts.

In total, there are 12 vessels for different customers from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the UK in Nauta’s orderbook.
