Macduff completes Fruitful Vine
Fruitful Vine
Macduff Shipyards Limited has just completed Fruitful Vine BF240 for Nicol Fishing Ltd.
The vessel will be under the command of John Nicol and will work out of Fraserburgh through Fraserburgh Inshore Fishermen Limited.
This vessel is a repeat of the Rebecca, which was built by the yard in 2008, and the Fruitful Vine replaces a wooden Fruitful Vine which was built in Sandhaven.
The hull form is double chine, with a deep box keel for ballast. The stern is well raked forward over an extended bulbous bow.
Macduff Profilers cut the steel kit from cutting information supplied by Macduff Ship Design Limited, and the steel was transported to Middlesbrough where Aveco (Teeside) Limited fabricated the hull. The hull was then towed to Macduff for machinery installation and fitting out.
The steel deckhouse is fitted rail to rail athwartships and the steel shelterdeck is forward as an extension of the hull without a rail line. The shelterdeck is all weathertight except for the aft net handling area.
Layout below deck from forward: forepeak c/w chain locker, fishroom, engineroom, and cabin with steering gear compartment.
Layout on main deck from forward: winchroom, fish handling area, deckhouse, and net handling area.
The main engine is a Mitsubishi S6R MPTK rated 643HP at 1350RPM with a Reintjes WAF374 reverse reduction gearbox with 6.12:1 reduction ratio, driving a 1900mm diameter Lips propeller in a Lips fixed nozzle.
The deck machinery package is as follows:
1 – Macduff 3 drum trawl winch
2 – Macduff split net drums
1 – TMA Gilson winch
1 – Thistle MKB7 kinked boom aft crane with tilt head powerblock
1 – Thistle MFB8 straight boom discharging crane c/w winch
1 – curved towing bar and carriage
1 – standby pump system on clutched pto gear on main engine
The fish handling system is by Macduff Shipyards Limited.
