Tom Elliott passes away

Respected and admired businessman and industry leader Tom Elliott passed away on 29 November.

Known to his friends as “Big Tom”, he co-founded and ran the highly successful commodity seafood import brokerage company, TEMA, Inc. of San Francisco. Later he served as a Regional Vice President and General Manager for Slade Gorton & Company. He also served as President of the California Seafood Institute and as President of the National Fisheries Institute. He continued to serve the seafood industry on NFI's Board of Directors for many years.

“Whether in NFI board meetings, on Capitol Hill or the rugby pitch, Tom Elliot was a leader,” said NFI President John Connelly. “Tom knew the importance of team and how to manage and inspire one.  His influence and humor will be missed.”

Mr Elliott passed away peacefully surrounded by his children in his home in Belvedere, California, aged 76.
