Norwegian Koppernӕs and Danish TripleNine have merged to form the largest Nordic fishmeal and fish oil business.

The boards of Koppernӕs AS and TripleNine suggested the merger of the two fishmeal companies which hold the same views on the strategic challenges and opportunities for development. The merger will give TripleNine Group a better opportunity to develop new products and meet customer requirements.

The new company, TripleNine Group A/S, will be headquartered in Esbjerg and will have factories in Norway, Denmark and Chile. Each business owns 50% of the new company which will have a turnover of 3bn DKK (US$520m).

The new company will also own 50% of shares in Norwegian trading company, Norsildmel AS.

The merger is expected to be completed in spring 2013 once all approvals have been received.
