Frime SA gains FoS approval
Certain Frime SA tuna products are Friend of the Sea seal certified
Spanish company Frime SA has undergone a chain of custody audit for tuna from approved Friend of the Sea vessels, and tuna products from these vessels can now carry the Friend of the Sea seal of approval.
Friend of the Sea vessels target tuna in areas where the species are not overexploited according to RFMO stock assessments and with onboard observers to verify implementation of sustainable fishing practices.
An international independent certification body assessed Frime's chain of custody against Friend of the Sea’s strict requirements and asserted that the company provided clear information about the origin of the products, including fishing area and methods. The control system now can seamlessly distinguish between certified and non-certified products through different codes with specific information on the date they are processed into final goods, thereby complying with the certification's essential conditions.
Family owned Catalan company Frime boasts 70 years experience in the seafood business and is widely known in over 40 countries.
“The association with Friend of the Sea perfectly reflects this commitment to Top Qualityand represents an important added value for the seafood products we offer,” said Salvador Ramon, director of Frime SA.
