On 1 December 2011, Karstensens Shipyard handed over newbuild ‘Paula’ to Michael (Mick) Doyle from Killybegs, Ireland.

The vessel was launched by Paula Doyle, who is also a director at Doyle Fishing Co Ltd, at an informal ceremony on 3 December 2011.

Paula’s hull was built in Gdansk, Poland. It arrived in Skagen in mid-July and took four and a half months to out-fit.

The new vessel will be used for traditional pelagic trawling, targeting mackerel and horse mackerel.

Paula’s has an overall length of 62.6m, a beam of 12.8m and depth to shelter deck of 7.8m. The vessel is a sistership to Karstensens’ build 415 Gollenes, which was delivered to Norwegian owners in September 2011.
