Actinia

Seaway Marine has recently completed Actinia, a research vessel for the University Miarine Biological Station Millport.

The vessel is a 10.85m GRP Catamaran and was ordered to replace the university’s smaller vessel, RV Aplysia. She will operate primarily from Millport in and around the Clyde Sea Area but will also able to operate in any coastal waters.

Actinia’s main roles will be taking students out to sea, hydrographic and benthic sampling, trawling, creeling, surveying and providing a platform for scientific divers.

The wheelhouse accommodation is for a crew of two for a total complement of 14 persons and built to MCA 'Small Commercial Vessel & Pilot Boat Code of Practice'.

The hull was moulded by Gemini Catamaran Workboats in Colchester and then transported to Seaway’s yard for outfitting and completion.
