Sea-Fire Marine has launched the Nobel K-5 Galley Wet Chemical Fire Suppression System.

ISO 15371 approved, the Nobel K-5 Galley is a fully independent system that integrates into the kitchen environment. Specially-formulated to put out cooking oil and grease fires and prevent re-ignition, its wet chemical suppressant forms a thick, soapy barrier between the fuel's surface and the atmosphere.

The system has no moving parts, eliminating failure due to faulty gauges, valves and other mechanical components. Featuring a gas generator, the cylinder isn't pressurised until electronically actuated by the control panel. This ensures the propellant gas doesn't leak.

The system employs sensitive heat detectors to monitor fire conditions. They are placed directly over the protected appliance or in the air flow. It can also be operated manually, using push-button switches around the kitchen.

Once the control panel receives the fire signal, it emits audio and visual alarms and immediately shuts down power to the cooking equipment. The suppressant is released simultaneously.

With a compact design and stainless steel construction, the system provides continuous monitoring of alarm input and extinguishing output circuits, as well as fault modes and it can be configured to suit the demands of any galley.
