New members join the ASIC
The Commonwealth Fisheries Association (CFA) and Southern Rock Lobster Ltd (SRL) have now full membership in the Australian Seafood Industry Council (ASIC).
CFA deals with issues affecting Commonwealth fisheries and the new membership will replace the former National Trawl Association membership comprising South East Trawl Fishing Industry Association and Northern Prawn Fishing Industry Organisations. It has previously been an affiliate member of ASIC.
SRL represents the interests of rock lobster production across waters off the coasts of South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and southern NSW. ASIC Chair, Bob Pennington, says the decisions by ASIC to accept these memberships are a further step towards delivering peak body representation which matches the needs of the industry into the 21st Century.
