Optimar Iceland Ltd has designed and delivered its first air cooled slurry ice machine, the BPS-110, intended for an onshore processor in Japan.

Instead of the conventional seawater/water cooled condenser this machine uses an air cooled condenser from the German manufacturer Güntner GmbH.

The reason for selecting an air cooled condenser is the high cost of water in many countries. Normally a seawater or water cooled condenser is more economical than an air cooled one, in terms of power consumption. When the price of water is taken into the equation it can be more economical to have the air cooled unit.

The BPS-110 was sold in Japan by Nikko Ltd, the Japanese distributor for Optimar Iceland, who has also just delivered a BP-105 machine to another processing company in Japan.

Optimar Iceland has also recently sold three Optim-Ice systems to Norway, one to Scotland, two to Spain and four to Australia, in addition to those two delivered to Japan.
